Jill Hirst, Photographer and Artist, is based in the Teesdale Village of Cotherstone, Barnard Castle, County Durham in the North East of England.

Jill has drawn and painted animals since being able to pick up a pencil. Jill also grew up watching photographs being developed and printed in the blacked out family bathroom. Her interest and work with various animals, has given her an extra dimension to work with and helped her to capture the character and essence of each subject in a variety or media and a frame by frame view of life.
Specialising in commissioned animal portraits or pet portraits, mostly horses, dogs and cats in various medium – watercolour, pencil, pastel oils, engraved glass and other bases. Also photography, mostly landscape but including a huge variety of other subjects too.
